ABBA-Cadabra

Spotlight Youth Theatre returned to the SandPit in June 2007 with ABBA-Cadabra. This fun-filled show combined the story of Cinderella with the timeless hits of ABBA. Another successfull production enjoyed by audiences of all ages which included many original members of our youth theatre along with some talented newcomers.

Christmas Show 2006

In December 2006 we returned to the Sandpit theatre for our second show. We decided to put on a themed revue for Christmas comprising of songs from famous musicals set in London including “Oliver,” “My Fair Lady” and “Me and My Girl.” The show contained a variety of numbers ranging from fully staged versions of Consider Yourself from “Oliver” and The Lambeth Walk from “Me and my Girl,” to an up-tempo medley of traditional Christmas songs.  We had a guest appearance from Hannah Hall who performed As Long As He Needs Me from “Oliver” and Mike and Rachel even got out their tap shoes to perform a song and dance version of Me and My Girl

Rehearsing and putting on this show proved to be great fun for the children as there were lots of big routines to prepare and everyone was involved in numbers throughout the whole show.

Annie

Star

In June 2006 Spotlight Youth Theatre staged their first production “Annie” at the SandPit Theatre, St. Albans. Auditions for the show were held in October 2005 and rehearsals began in November with a group of 30 students of mixed ages and abilities. The older children played the adult characters and the younger children were split into two teams to play the orphans. The roles of Grace, Miss Hannigan and President Roosevelt were played by professional actors which enhanced the production and gave the children a chance to work with experienced performers. The show proved to be a huge success, the children had a wonderful time and the audiences were really impressed with the high standard of the production.
